The Bears without Borders is pleased to welcome Jeff Tedford as our Special VIP Guest Host. As Cal’s former Football Coach from 2002 - 2012, Jeff was twice named Pac-10 Coach of the Year and holds California Golden Bears football program records for most games coached (139), most wins (82), most Big game wins (7) and most bowl game victories (5).
Tedford had 47 players drafted by the NFL, including eight first-round picks. As the winningest head coach in Cal football history, he is credited with firmly establishing the Golden Bears as one of the elite football programs in the Pac-12.
Tedford began football career as a high school quarterback, then playing quarterback for the Fresno State Bulldogs and then professionally in the Canadian Football League (CFL). In 1989, Jeff began his long and successful coaching career that culminated his most recent role as Head Coach back at his alma mater Fresno State (2017-2019 and again 2022-23).
“Football is more than a game,” he said. “I think it teaches so many values for young people as they move on into life – teamwork, sacrifice, dedication, hard work – all those things are very valuable to their futures.”
Tedford and his wife Donna reside in Fresno, California. They have two sons, Taylor and Quinn, both of whom played football under their father at Cal.
